Lexington, Missouri, was the major outfitting stop for the Santa Fe Trail and home of Win. Russell and Win Waddell of the famous freighting firm Russell, Majors and Waddell. Their famous westward freighting firm was headquartered in Lexington and they founded the Pony Express.
